August 2024 at Juice
The first month (and a half) since taking over the life drawing sessions at Juice has been and gone and I am so grateful for everyone who showed up to support my first evening session at Juice. It was a very chilled session and thanks to Lorna for making it an Olympics themed session with props and Lizzy for her fabulous dynamic poses. It was lovely to see some new faces attending as well as some of the regulars.

Arty Drawing
I’ve really been enjoying getting out there and doing some drawing for myself. I’ve been to WILD:Mild’s sessions which are very grassroots but very relaxed, in the back of Queens Pub, Queens Road in Hull.
I had a little trip to London and ended up teaching someone how to do angles and proportion which was fun. I’ve been trying to study hands and feet in more detail at my last few drawing sessions and I’ve really been enjoying pushing myself to focus on a new aspect of figure drawing.
What have you been challenging yourself with lately?
September 2024 - She’s a busy bee
As well as being a ward for the weekly Juice sessions, I’m looking forward to posing for a taught session at St Emmanuel’s Church in Bridlington, tomorrow (Thursday 19th). I’m going to be covered in stickers to show the landmarks of the body, which is always fun.
I’ve been spreading my reach over the last few months and have been doing regular work in Bridlington, Leeds and have sold out an upcoming workshop (Friday 20th) at the Ropewalk Gallery in Barton-upon Humber, with a view to making this a regular workshop for those interested. If a few people from the Hull area are interested in future sessions at the Ropewalk, we could get a car-pool going for a mini adventure over the bridge. Email me if interested.
And if life couldn’t get any more arty, I was looking at booking my first holiday abroad in about 6 years and guess who’s going to be modelling in the winter sunshine of the Canary Islands? Yep, The Arty Poser’s reach knows no bounds. At least choosing what to wear will be easy. Ha.
Now available - Team building socials, private parties for birthdays, stag and hens dos.
I’d like to say a massive thank you to Joe at Juice for helping co-ordinate an absolutely mad but extremely fun private booking for a stag-do at the start of August -talk about jumping in at the deep end, eh?
I taught them a few basics of drawing so that they could feel confident in what they were doing and then gave them a series of silly challenges, including splitting them into 2 teams and using viewfinders to focus on different areas of the body, we created 2 very different cubist-esque compilations. And the model? Oh yeah, that was the unsuspecting Stag.
I was ever so proud that he was brave enough to strip off in front of his mates and get stuck in. He was a bit nervous at first but made an excellent model and his friends created some really great drawings of him. I joined him in the last half hour so they could show off all their new drawing skills with 2 models. I personally had a great time and they have sent us a fantastic review.
"From start to finish the studio (Joe and Evy) were a pleasure to deal with. They were able to facilitate our crazy idea of having a life modelling session as a stag do. They were able to answer all the queries, whilst also putting forward great ideas and suggestions of their own to make the planning and organisation of this event very easy.
On the actual day we were warmly greeted and taken on a quick tour of the studio. This really set the scene and put everyone at ease. During the session Evy was fantastic. Not only was she great fun and up for a laugh, but also a fantastic instructor, somehow getting 10 slightly inebriated men to produce what can only be described as works of art. The manner in which the session was run and broken into sections meant that no matter your ability or experience, you were able to get involved, see progress and ultimately enjoy it.
As far as stag do's go this activity was definitely a little bit out there and requires an open mind. However, I would fully recommend this to other stag/hen do's and especially having an event like this at Juice Studios. Thank you."
